4/15/2024 0 Comments Terminator quotes it won't stop![]() He is not a solider he is just a land rat looking for food, so he should have no significance to Skynet at this time. why does Skynet want to kill John and Kyle? Kyle is a civilian, not even in the resistance. The resistance leaders apparently don't see the significance of having John and Kyle's names at the top of the list, but the bigger question is. At the top of the list is Kyle Reese, followed by John Connor. Once on the sub we learn that the resistance has intercepted a an APB from Skynet, a kill list containing the top 5 people Skynet wants dead by the end of the week. ![]() He is so low in fact that the resistance leaders don't feel the need to make any time for him to properly board their submarine, so he jumps out of a low flying airplane into the water during a storm, with waves that look to be 20 feet high all around him. Many see him as a false profit, and he isn't very high up on the chain of command. Furthermore, what are the odds that Marcus will ever enter into the right chain of events that will result in Skynet holding Kyle Reese as bait for John Connor? Why didn't they just condition him to find and kill John Connor or Kyle Reese? This just leads to even bigger questions, like why doesn't Skynet kill Kyle when they have him in their custody? The war would have been over right there, but more on this in a bit.Īfter Connor flees the nuclear blast site, we discover that he isn't exactly the great military leader we were all expecting. Okay, great, BUT YOU JUST SET A NUKE OFF IN THE SAME FACILITY THAT HE WAS IN! What are the odds that Marcus would be the one to survive? He could have easily been destroyed. Towards the end of the film we discover that Marcus has been conditioned to infiltrate the human resistance headquarters and lure John Connor back to Skynet so they can kill him. Now, I suppose I can accept that someone could survive the blast and get out, but that someone survived the blast by design makes ZERO sense to me. Connor runs outside and hops into a helicopter, apparently thinking he was going to be able to shoot down a huge HK by himself (that silly kid), when Skynet sets off a nuke inside of the facility, killing his whole team and all of the civilians who were being held inside. Moving on to 2018, which is where the film picks back up at in the future (with no buffer what so ever), Connor and his team are heading into a Skynet base to retrieve some data off of a Skynet computer (I guess Skynet still uses USB plugs and an operating system that humans can navigate as easily as an iPod), where Marcus just happens to be held. Directed by George Lucas" then the next screen is the scrolling Star Wars titles like we all know and love. Why? Imagine you are sitting down to watch A New Hope for the first time, and while it says "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.", at the bottom of the screen it flashes "Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, James Earl Jones. but before we zoom out to actually see the title of the movie in the burnt letters, the basic white Cyberdyne letters tell us the name of the movie. Basic white Cyberdyne text against a dark background while huge burnt letters spelling "Terminator Salvation" fly around in the background. Now, I hate to stoop to picking on the credits themselves, but no effort was put into their design. ![]() Just a brief written history, which is a huge disappointment because they had LINDA FREAKING HAMILTON at their disposal to record the narration. They didn't bother to show us anything leading up to the events of T4. The third movie carries that tradition but this time the narration is done by Nick Stahl as John Connor. In the second film the history is shown and narrated by Linda Hamilton. ![]() I realize that T1 opened with written history as well, but it also actually showed us a little history (and no, the Marcus intro does not count). Then we move on to the opening credits, which were an epic fail. You might just come back and say that Marcus didn't care about her and that he is just a prick, but at the end of the film Skynet takes Carter's form while appearing to Marcus because it scanned his brain to find that her form was the most comforting to him, which for starters is a complete rip off of that Jodie Foster movie Contact, but it also means he had some sort of good feelings and compassion towards Carter and that the "I know what death taste like" line was just an poor attempt to make it on Bravo's next Top 100 movie quotes of all time. There is also a line at the start of the film where Marcus kisses Helena Bonham-Carter's character, who’s dying of cancer, and says "Now I know what death taste like." What a completely mean-spirited thing to say to someone who is dying. The opening scene felt like it was ripped from a made-for-TV movie, and posing Marcus on the execution table in the Jesus Christ pose was just far too contrived. It was worse than I thought it would be, which is just insane.
